Reggae music, cold drinks and football send our thoughts to the sunny beaches of Jamaica and Bob Marley. Commemorate the legendary musician's birthday by arranging an afternoon of Jamaican jerk chicken and rum. Depending on where you live, the beach may not be the nicest place to be in February, but let your mind drift and picture warm and sunny Jamaica when you arrange your "beach party" in your home. Robert "Bob" Nesta Marley was born on the 6th of February 1945 and is commonly recognized as …the godfather of reggae. Bob Marley was a member of the Rastafarian movement, whose culture was a key element in the development of reggae. He was born in the small village of Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. His father was a white Jamaican Marine officer of English descent and his mother a black Jamaican. Bob Marley died of cancer in 1981, but his music lives on. The list of hits is a long one, but some of the best known include: "I Shot the Sheriff", "No Woman, No Cry", "Exodus", "Could You Be Loved" and "Redemption Song". So relax to the sounds of reggae music and be inspired by the Rastafarian way which preaches world peace and brotherhood and sisterhood between all people→
